something else that we’d be into as well is if there is a way to get from the various airports to a hotel/motel/whatever that is especially close to amazing beautiful places (not busy with tourists as bad as vegas though, yuck), and we could just walk over. to rolling hills and waterfalls and beaches. yeah i have no idea. but if you know a spot..and a way from the airport to the spot…that would work too. thought i’d put that out there.
sigh…I just really don’t want to end up hanging out at a resort community just because i can’t drive to the more remote more beautiful REAL hawaii. I would be open to seeing if anyone knows anyone who would just drive us a few times to specific lovely places and pick us up, i’ll check out their prices i guess too.

Welcome to Hawaii, ok? You know, lotta people who live hea not drive, on Oahu, we got the best bus service, call it "The Bus", clever disguise, yeah? Anyway, for people who don’t drive, Oahu best island to visit, ok? Now, you wanna stay where you can get to less crowded area, maybe to walk, or just take tour, so I have suggest for you and you Mom, (63 not that old, cause I in that range too), I think you should look at Turtle Bay hotel, and golf resort, on Oahu, ok? Look online at campus, nice place, good food, and not too many people, but can still get bus ride ova to resort area, or otha place onna island, if you wanna hang there for while, goto bus website, check out the cost and maybe get pass for some of time you hea, great beach for just walk along, can go pretty far, and not see too many people, ok? Down side gonna be ride form and back to airport, but get a deal onna taxi from hotel when you make reservation, they got taxi which serve their customers, also shuttle so not too bad, but bout 30 to 40 minute ride from airport to hotel, depend on traffic, but check it out, you have best of both worlds, nice quiet reasonable price hotel, not crowded beach, with convenience of bus service if you want, ok? Otha island great, like Kauai, Maui, or Big Island, but bus service not too good there, ok? You gonna be more dependent on tours, trams, and walking, ok? And, it ok with them if you don’t wanna play golf, they just have good course as part of hotel, ok? Hope this help, Peace and aloha to you!

I could work for 6 months out of Hawaii, but I am questioning myself, if it is "worth" it?

Situation:
- visited Hawaii before (love Kauai & Maui)
- have a paid job during this period (it is an internet company, so work can be done from pretty much all over the world, I am on a work visa, originally from Europe)
- my GF has only a tourist / visitor visa (can stay only for 6 months; I could stay longer)
- have some funds available (not to crazy much, but from my calc it could work)
- If we would go, I would like to stay on the North shore of Kauai or in the Hana area of Maui

Me and my GF traveled around the last year and half and are also ready to settle in, into a "real" home and could use the money as well to make this a nice place..

Can we even get a affordable rental in Hanalei or Hana? How much should I calculate in for the rent?
Where is even a good place to look for rentals? (CL shows mostly vacation rentals)

How much should we calculate in for food, gas, daily stuff,… each month? (as fixed costs)
(we could adopt to local food for sure, but you know once in a while you like some other stuff…)

I think my question is, if it is to illusions to go over there for just 6 month, having all the costs (flying out from Europe, buying a car there, some stuff for the appt, ..) and hassle (organizing an appt, car, …) on one side and this once-in-a-lifetime-ever chance on the other? Even though my GF cannot work and is "loosing" this work wise seen…

Maui is fabulous and the beaches are great.
We also have beautiful hotels and condos located right on the water.
There is lots to do in the way of tours and excursions. Such as a luau, snorkel trips, whale watching (Dec.-April), dinner cruises, zip lining and so much more.

First, it’s pretty bland. Cotton doesn’t make you feel sexy or pretty and it can make you really hot to. If you do get hot cotton will keep your perspiration in. This is not that great and if you have a husband, it won’t get him interested either.

So what should you be wearing?

Not skimpy lingerie, but elegant silk pajamas for women. Silk pajamas are very similar to cotton jammies. In fact, many of the styles are the same but silk feels amazing and that makes you feel really great. You feel sexy, and classy too. It’s pretty amazing.

If you want to add different styles, you can get silk chemises and gowns which add more sophistication that you can’t get with cotton. Plus, silk can keep you perfectly warm and if you sweat, it helps to get rid of it. It’s really special and something you should look more into.

Being on the top floor, our unit has vaulted ceilings which gives it a spaciousness that is not available in single story units. For your enjoyment we are constantly upgrading. Both bathrooms have newly tiled walk-in showers. Both bedrooms have new furniture and we have upgraded the master loft bedroom to a cal king bed and the “Ground floor” bedroom to a queen size. There is also a queen size sofa bed in the living area.

We are about 30 minutes from Kahului airport, mostly on a new 4 lane highway. South Kihei is centrally located, so access to the rest of the island is easy and relaxing.

Our condo in South Kihei and borders Wailea. It is just across the street from Kamaole Beach #3~~which offers great snorkeling, boogie boarding, and magnificent sunsets! Our condo looks out onto lush garden areas and is about 100 feet from the pool….but just around the corner and far enough away so that the “Pool merriment” is not intrusive. And that is important in case you want to doze a bit while reading on the lanai!!!

Included in the main pool area is a kiddie pool, two hot tubs (one each for adults and children), a ping pong table, and a work out room with weights, treadmills etc. There is tour and excursion information available poolside and main lobby daily. Four tennis courts are for your use, free of charge.

We have a dedicated parking place right outside the building and near the elevator. There is wonderful shopping and eateries within walking distance, and several championship golf course just minutes away.

As a travel agent I know what a pain it can be trying to rent a car when you are under 25 years old.

All of the car companies will charge you the underage fee. This is paid directly to the car company and will not be in any quotes you may get.

If you do not want to pay this fee my advice is to book a travel package with a shuttle from the airport to the hotel or resort and stay in the nicest property you can afford (especially if it is your honeymoon). That way you can spend most of your time at the resort and not care so much if you sightseeing this time.

Then in a couple of years you can come back for your anniversary and stay in a condo and rent a car and drive all around the island.

If you do want to do a few day tours while you are here in Maui you can do van tours of Hana (waterfalls and lush valleys) or Haleakala crater (dormant volcano). They range in price from around $75-150 per person, per tour.

You may want to check out the Hawaiian Visitor Bureau website for more ideas. I will list their website below.
