Is It True That The Obamas Hawaii Vacation Will Cost Taxpayers 4 Mil?

I heard that Michelle and the kids went in one plane and Obama followed in another. I find it hard to believe that in the present economy with so many Americans out of work and even losing their homes that a person who is supposed to be a figure head would flaunt his affluence by taking a 4 million dollar vacation no matter who is paying for it. So 99% s and occupiers this is ok with you? I am hoping that the 4 mil is an inflated figure but who knows.

It wouldn’t surprise me one bit. The Obamas are on a four year vacation and the American taxpayer is footing the bill! Disgraceful, that so many are hurting right now and that many of our military are on food stamps.

Let me try to explain this the best way possible. I dated this guy for almost two years back when I was a junior/senior. I’m now 19 almost 20. We were completely in love and thought we would be together forever. Things didn’t work out… and we were both heart broken. We both dated new people. Yet I always found myself comparing and missing him throughout this new relationship. We had both broken up with our new bfs/gfs around the same time just recently like two months ago. (magically)…. and started hanging out as friends. But that didn’t last for long. One night we kissed and from then on, we are sort of… dating I guess you would say. We’re not together, yet we are completely in love with each other. There is really no one else I’d rather be with. Getting down to the point…. He’s going to Hawaii. And is staying with someone he knows down there. Yet we’ve talked and we both know we’re going to hurt a lot when he’s gone…. the thing is. It’s a one way ticket and I have no idea how long he’s going to be gone…. I’m already hurting knowing he’s leaving soon. (early september) he keeps on asking… what’s going to happen if I stay pretty long, and I say how long. and he said three months. Let me remind you. This boy is in love with me, he is madly in love with me, as I am with him. He can’t go a couple days without missing me. I guess my question is, do you really think he’s going to stay that long there… he definitely has the lifestyle where he could.. nothing holding him back. He knows he’s going to miss me, his family, and his friends. It just hurts so much not knowing when he’ll come back. He says not to wait for him, but since we’ve been rekindling this… I can’t help but think I’m going to subconsciously wait for him. I won’t be looking for any one else, or wanting to date any one else. And I know it’s going to hurt. a lot, when he’s gone. I guess I just need some advice, as to if you think he’s actually going to stay long, or if hawaii’s going to be too much, and he’ll miss home too much. (He’s never been on his own.. yet he’s a pretty independent person)

or maybe some songs that’ll help me feel better about this whole thing. :/

I was planning on getting a vacation home in a tropical place. I really want one in Hawaii…but where are some places that might be a good place to have a vacation home….somewhere beautiful and tropical!!!

Tahiti is kinda cool. But Hawaii is probably my favorite, any island but Oahu.

HIKES FOR HOMES ( The Oahu SPCA ) “Waydes World Hawaii”

Aloha everyone. I’m very proud to be working with the OAHU SPCA as we join together for the “HIKES for HOMES” project to find FOREVER HOMES for Shelter Dogs through the Oahu SPCA. The Oahu Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) has formed “Hikes for Homes” to provide a fun and healthy environment where the shelter dogs can meet and mingle with the public. We hope that with this exposure someone will be moved to adopt a shelter dog and save a life. The Oahu SPCA core volunteers select up to 10 shelter dogs for each monthly hike. They accompany the dogs as their handlers and monitor their behavior. The Oahu SPCA and Wayde’s World Hawaii plans to extend the hikes to other trails with my personal advice. This is something I have been wanting to do for a while now and I am very exciting to be a part of this great organization!

The Oahu SPCA is a NO KILL animal shelter located in Kapolei. They are funded through private donations and grants. Each month They rescue, rehabilitate and re-home approximately 60 abused, abandoned or neglected animals.

If your house flooded while you were on vacation, would you want to know immediately?

Suppose you’ve saved for many, many years so that you could finally take your dream vacation to Hawaii, or someplace really exotic.

Now suppose, while you are away, the person taking care of your house stops by to feed your dogs, and notices that the washing machine hose has broken, and your entire first floor has flooded!

Would you want your housesitter to notify you immediately, (which would probably cause you to cut your vacation short and rush home)

OR…..

Would you prefer that your housesitter clean up the mess as best he or she can, not say anything that would spoil your vacation, and wait until you got home before breaking the news?

Homeowners, what would you prefer?
Housesitters, how would you have handled it?

Things that make you go Hmmmmm…

If I was a homeowner, I’d have insurance yes? And please don’t ruin my happy moments in life and lemme enjoy my vacation.

If I was a house-sitter, I’d do my best and clean up the mess, and then call the homeowner and report the damage.

Hawaii Vacation: Ep.6 Hawaiian Gecko

Geckos are lizards belonging to the family Gekkonidae, found in warm climates throughout the world.They range from 1.6cm to 60cm.

Geckos are unique among lizards in their vocalizations, making chirping sounds in social interactions with other geckos. Gekkonidae is the largest family of lizards, with an estimated 2,000 different species worldwide and many others likely yet to be discovered. The name stems from the Indonesian/Javanese word Tokek, inspired by the sound these animals make.

All geckos, excluding the Eublepharinae subfamily, have no eyelids and instead have a transparent membrane which they lick to clean. Many species will, in defense, expel a foul-smelling material and feces onto their aggressors. There are also many species that will drop their tails in defense, a process called autotomy. Many species are well known for their specialized toe pads that enable them to climb smooth and vertical surfaces, and even cross indoor ceilings with ease (one hypothesis explains the ability in terms of the van der Waals force). These antics are well-known to people who live in warm regions of the world, where several species of geckos make their home inside human habitations. These species (for example the House Gecko) become part of the indoor menagerie and are often welcome guests, as they feed on insects, including mosquitoes.

The largest species, the Kawekaweau, is only known from a single, stuffed specimen found in the basement of a museum in Marseille, France, and one documented sighting in the wild in 1870. This gecko was 60 cm (24 in) long and it was endemic to New Zealand, where it lived in native forests. It was probably wiped out along with much of the native fauna of these islands in the late 19th century, when new invasive species such as rats and stoats were introduced to the country during European colonization. The smallest gecko, the Jaragua Sphaero, is a mere 1.6 cm long and was discovered in 2001 on a small island off the coast of the Dominican Republic.

Geckos come in various patterns and colors such as purple, pink, blue, and black. Geckos are among the most colorful lizards in the world. They are most commonly found in the forests of Florence, County.

Some are subtly patterned and somewhat rubbery looking, while others are brightly colored. Some species can change color to blend in with their environment or with particular temperatures. Some species are parthenogenic, which means the female is capable of reproducing without copulating with a male. This improves the gecko’s ability to spread to new islands. However, in a situation where a single female gecko populates an entire island, said island will suffer from a lack of genetic variation within the geckos that inhabit it. The gecko’s mating call sounds like a shortened bird chirping which attracts males, when they are around. This allows a female to reproduce with more genetic variation, by using sexual reproduction instead of asexual.

The toes of the gecko have a special adaptation that allows them to adhere to most surfaces without the use of liquids or surface tension. The spatula tipped setae on gecko footpads demonstrate that the attractive forces that hold geckos to surfaces are van der Waals interactions between the finely divided setae and the surfaces themselves, although a more recent study suggests that water molecules of roughly monolayer thickness (present on virtually all natural surfaces) also play a role.

These van der Waals interactions involve no fluids; in theory, a boot made of synthetic setae would adhere as easily to the surface of the International Space Station as it would to a living room wall, although adhesion varies with humidity and is dramatically reduced under water, suggesting a contribution from capillarity. The setae on the feet of geckos are also self cleaning and will usually remove any clogging dirt within a few steps. Teflon, which has very low van der Waals forces, is the only known surface to which a gecko cannot stick.the geckos feet also loose their stickieness when sprayed with man juice.

Geckos’ toes seem to be “double jointed”, but this is a misnomer. Their toes actually bend in the opposite direction from our fingers and toes. This allows them to overcome the van der Waals force by peeling their toes off surfaces from the tips inward. In essence, this peeling action alters the angle of incidence between millions of individual setae and the surface, reducing the Van der Waals force. Geckos’ toes operate well below their full attractive capabilities for most of the time. This is because there is a great margin for error depending upon the roughness of the surface, and therefore the number of setae in contact with that surface.
