A Video Tour Of The Sunset Beach House, Oahu’s Favorite Vacation Rental Home. Located directly on the sand at exotic Sunset Beach, on the world famous North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii.
My home is directly on the sand at Sunset Beach, on the main island of Oahu, about 1,000 feet down from Pipeline, one of the world’s most famous surfing spots.
The beach in front of my house is gorgeous and is hardly used as there is no public access to it close to my home. The water is crystal clear and the snorkeling is great!
The home has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and is perfect for parties of up to 8 people with comfort and ease. There is a Jacuzzi on the deck overlooking the beach and my own private volleyball/badminton court is right along side the house, as you can see in the aerial shot on my web page.
The house is only a 7-8 minute drive from the historic whaling town of Haleiwa, which is the main town on the north shore of Oahu. It has lots of restaurants, shopping, a marina (in case you would like to go deep sea fishing), and live entertainment is abundant in many of the restaurants and bars. The Turtle Bay Hilton is about 5 miles away from the house in the other direction, and they have 2 golf courses, horseback riding, and a disco. There is a Foodland supermarket about 1/2 mile from the house. All the island activities, from hang gliding to scuba diving, and polo matches to jet skis are all just minutes away from my house.
For your viewing pleasure the living room has a 46 Flatscreen HDTV featuring all the movie channels with stereo DVD, and there are Flatscreen TV/DVDs in all the bedrooms. The home also has digital security and an electronic safe for your valuables.
In addition to the 3 inside baths there is a hot and cold 2 headed shower at the bottom of the deck which is hidden by foliage, and is everybody’s favorite place to shower and refresh after coming off the beach or after a long soak in the spa.
The kitchen is custom crafted in local island Koa hardwood & has every appliance you can think of, and of course there is a Telephone, High speed DSL Wireless Internet (Wifi), Free Long Distance, iron, and all the other items you would find in your own home.
The water is crystal clear and the snorkeling is great. SCUBA diving is a major attraction on the north shore with both boat and shore dives available. Waimea Falls is only a mile away, and hiking at Waimea Valley is an unforgettable experience.
You won’t have to bring anything but your swimsuit and a smile to have s Great Time!

I’m planning a vacation for my mom and dad for their anniversary.
I’m planning on paying for them to fly from Pittsburgh to Hawaii next January for an 8 night vacation.
I want to fly them to Honolulu for 4 days on Oahu with an economy rental car, and then fly them with a Go Hawaii flight from Honolulu to Maui for 4 more days with a convertable, and then finally a flight from Maui back to Honolulu, and from Honolulu to Pittsburgh.
Since my plan involves a 4 night lodging on 2 different islands, 2 different rental cars, and an inter-island flight inside of the main roundtrip flight from Pittsburgh to Honolulu, I can’t find a website that has the brain to compute all these factors in lol.
Have any of you ever planned a multiple-destination vacation online?
If so, where at? And how easy was it?
make an appointment to speak with a travel agent OR call the 1-800 for customer service from your favorite travel website.
all that aside, i would also like you to look at the alternative to buying them a vacation. you may have a certain amount of faith in the marriage of your parents, however, more and more shocking divorces are happening each year. why take the chance that they could divorce and then you would be out the money you shelled out on the vacation! if i were u, i would just give my parents the cash and let them do what they want once the time comes. this way, they dont necessarily have to go on the vacation ON their anniversary if they cant get away. this way, they can plan it themselves and go when THEY want to.
I need a 1 or 2 BR within driving distance to the mall (plaza las americas) and would like to be close to a decent beach. all the places i’ve seen online are vacation rentals, which make them fairly expensive. i’ve looked at rent.com and apartments.com but they dont list PR apts for some reason. Also, what are the pet policies for PR? I have a box turtle I want to take. I know Hawaii is fairly strict on their policy about animals being taken to/from the island because of environmental issues.
what, thanks. could anyone also tell me which specific areas around san juan and the mall would be decent to live in and close to the beach? i see a ton of areas when im looking for apts, but i really dont know how close they are to where i want to be. i would prefer not to drive more than 30 mins to work, so are there any hip areas close to the beach i should check out?
First of all to live close to Plaza and the beach you will be looking at Isla Verde, Condado, and Ols San Juan area. They are very, very expensive. Even if they are not vacation rentals. Studios are about $800-$1000, and apartments are more than $1,200.
I would recommend you to look at Guaynabo area which is very good, not that close to the beach but 15-20 min away, or Ocean Park area which is like a neighborhood next to the beach. The houses are kind of old but they are in walking distance to the beach and oif you look carefully you may find something around $1,000.

These are just examples currently on PR newspapre listed for rent. They are in Isla Verde and Ocean park area which are close to the mall and to the beach. If you are willing to sacrifice living next to the beach… look in Hato rey area (Baldrich neighborhood and Monte Mall Apartments) 5-10 away from the mall and 15 from the beach.
Go to ww.clasificadosendi.com for current listing on PR newspaper.
Good luck!
Are there any luxury vacation house rentals on the east coast available to adults under the age of 25 that are actually nice beachfront houses? Like are there any available to us with like 6+ bedrooms and bathrooms? I’m tired of taking dives just because we’re under the age of 25.
Pick your vacation city and call a realtor. After he talks with you on the phone he might sense you are responsible and his customers may be persuaded to rent to you. Many groups of 6+ people tend to party too much and destroy the properties. It’s the same thing renting a car. If you’re not 25 you’re screwed.
Being under 25 you may have to pay a double deposit as a security binder. Offer that token and see if they accept it.
Im planning a trip to Hawaii in 2009 will be staying in Maui
but would like to go to Oahu for 3 days first.
how and what is the cheapest way to Fly to Oahu, stay there for 3 days then fly to Maui to stay another 7 days. and then fly out of Maui for home with out it looking like a one way flight. Can I book something like this? (I have a place to stay already in Maui.)
Your best bet would be to fly to Oahu..then take the Superferry to Maui. The Superferry is a boat..kinda big cruise ship, that transport from Oahu to Maui. It’s like $39 and $5 off if you book 14 days (hawaiisuperferrry.com) in advance per person and takes about 3 hours. The view is spectacular. It take a longer but the experience is worth it.
So book your flight from where you’re at to Honolulu..then departing from Maui back home. Good luck
I was looking at web sites for places to stay. I have heard condos are the best option for a longer stay. We are going for ten days.
Does anyone know anything about Condominium Rentals Hawaii? www.crhmaui.com?
I don’t know anything about CRH. Renting a condo is my favorite place to stay, but it is sometimes a challenge to find all of the condo rentals available. Many are privately owned or timeshares and they are not listed on regular travel booking websites. Sometimes you can find the privately owned ones on Craig’s List.
Aston is one of the major hotel chains that has time-share resort condos listed on booking engines. You can either go to their website or try any of the major travel booking engines like travelocity, expedia, orbitz,to see where you can find the best deal.

We may be heading to Maui for a vacation and will likely rent a car. Just wanted to know if we could "pay" for the car rental with frequent flyer miles. It may be for a week or just a few days.
Sometimes you can. It depends on your plan and which car company you use.
I have never been to Hawaii before and would like to take a trip to Hawaii with my wife for the first time early part of next year (may be during February or March). I am looking for some advice from experienced travelers to Hawaii on how to best approach this trip.
I have the following questions:
(1) Is Maui a better place to visit for first timers than other Hawaiian islands? Which Island do you recommend for first timers?
(2) How many days trip would be enough in Maui to see and enjoy the island? 2 days or 3 days or 4 days? I can only go for a Max of 4 days.
(3) Is Car Rental needed? In other words, to go to beaches and other places, would it be needed to rent car from airport before coming? OR can you get by with other transportation means?
(4) Since there are hotels on different sides of the island, which side has the best beaches and which side has the best views? North, South, East or West?
(5) I read about Scuba diving in Hawaii is famous. I have never done it before and would like to try it. Will they provide you training over there? OR Do they allow only people who have experienced scuba divers to experience it? I am okay in swimming. Do you have to be a good swimmer to experience scuba diving? Is swimming knowledge required at all to do Scuba diving?
(6) Any other gotchas you recommend based on your travel experience?
I go to Hawaii about once a year- it’s a family favorite. You’ll have so much fun!
A lot of people like Maui, and it might be best for your first time, but personally, I love Oahu. That’s where you have Waikiki Beach and, my favorite place in Hawaii, the North Shore. Waikiki Beach is very touristy but very fun. And depending on when you’re planning on going it might not be too crowded. Try to go when schools aren’t on vacation. The beaches are beautiful there. My favorite hotel there is the Moana Surfrider (http://www.moana-surfrider.com). It’s a beautiful hotel and has been around since 1901. It is now a Westin but is also a part of the Starwood Luxury Collection. If you do stay there, be sure to request a room in the old Banyon wing.
Also on Oahu is the North Shore which is a fairly rural part of Hawaii. It is famous as a surf spot and is also a great place to look for Sea Turtles. The only hotel up in that area is the Turtle Bay resort. It’s a fabulous hotel also. However, another option is to rent one of the houses on the North Shore for however long you want. Or if you’re staying in Waikiki, you can always go up for the day. If you’re there, be sure to get shave ice at one of the shops in the downtown area. Matsumoto’s is the most famous but Aoki’s is equally good (if not better) and usually has less of a line. Also, stop and get a pie at Ted’s Bakery- a local place that is delicious!
Oahu is also rich in Hawaiian culture. You can visit the Iolani Palace (the only royal palace in the United States), Pearl Harbor, and the Polynesian Cultural Center.
I would say that you definitely want to do 4 days no matter which island you go to. Otherwise, it’s just too short and you won’t have enough time to relax and really feel an island pace of life- when they say they run on island time, they mean it (but it’s my favorite part about visiting)!
Also, you should definitely rent a car. No matter what island you’re on, you’ll want to visit other areas besides where you’re staying and a taxi will get expensive. There isn’t very much alternative transportation.
I don’t know about best beaches on Maui, but the best beaches for swimming on Oahu are definitely on Waikiki. The North Shore has beautiful beaches but they can be fairly rocky, so not the best swimming although it is still an option if you’re a strong swimmer.
The first time I scuba dived was in Hawaii and it really is wonderful. With most programs you have to be trained and training can be as little as a couple days but it would take up a lot of your time (although if that’s something that you and your wife are interested in it could be a really fun base of the trip). The first time that I did it, it was in the pool at the Turtle Bay Resort and then the instructor took us out to the ocean the next day without training. So you might be able to find a place. You definitely need swimming knowledge but you don’t have to be an olympic athlete. However, you should be comfortable swimming in an ocean.
Another tip: the fruit stands on the side of the road are fabulous! The best is the pineapple that has the red powder on it. My mouth is watering thinking about it. And the fresh coconut…
Also, for souvenirs, I would suggest the flea market. They have a great one at the stadium in Oahu and I recall going to others on the other islands. You will find what you see at the souvenir shops (usually for cheaper) and then more stuff as well (knockoff bags, hand carved Tikis, handmade jewlery…). Also, the ABC stores are great places for "typical" souvenirs.
Sorry this is so long but hopefully it will help.
Have a great time!! And my mom is really the expert (she stayed there for 3 months straight this year) so if you have any more question let me know and I can pass them on to her.
Where could i advertise my vacation rentals.
These are cabins and a pool house up in yosemite.
Thank You
in a newspaper or on a popular website that lets you book private condos and stuff. just don’t put up flyers many people won’t respond
I’m not talking about an hour drive up north or 1 state away. I’m talking about going to Europe, Mexico or some place tropical (like Hawaii or the bahamas) How much does the average vacationer spend each year?
Or, do most people stick to camping, some other type of weekend excursion or just staying home for their vacation? Thanks!
to me just getting away from the normal routine is a vacation even if it is 1 state away, you mentioned some pretty extravagant vacations,i dont know many people who take those kind unless they have alot of money
We are spending one month in Honolulu. This is the first time that we are considering renting a condo instead of staying at the hotel. I have confirmed reservations (without a kitchen), but I can cancel if needed.
I currently have three choices. :
444 nahua st. (1 bdrm)
The Ilikai 1777 Ala Moana blvd (1 bdrm)
The Windsor 343 Hobron (2 bdrm)
My husband will work in Pearl Harbor during that time frame so I want to be near the touristy areas without all the night time noise.
Since I’m not in Hawaii, I’m hoping that one of you can give me more info (pros/cons) with these locations. I welcome any accommodation recommendations.
Thank you in advance!
For location alone, I would go with Hobron. It is on the edge of Waikiki & near Ala Moana & is more residential in nature. It will be a little less zoo-y than Waikiki. The Ilikai is on the main drag, but may have better views. Nahua is not in the best section of Waikiki.
